Happy Birthday Amy!

Amy is 9 today. I can't believe how big she is getting. Amy is our comic relief. She can make anyone smile! I am continually amazed at her positive attitude. It doesn't matter what happens, she can take a minute to herself and then she is good to go! She loves to dance, sing and do gymnastics...I wish I was still as flexible as her! We love you Amy! Happy Birthday!

I HATE MECHANICAL PROBLEMS!

Today I am heading to the gym and my car sputters...I make a quick turn around (don't want to end up on the highway just outside my neighborhood) and head not 1/4 mile and my car stalls. Yeah! Right in the middle of a school zone! I call Shane and he kindly tells me to pump the gas...like I haven't been doing that! so I wasn't very nice talking to him at that point...I get off the phone and call roadside. As I'm doing this, the crossing guard comes over and wants to know what's going on. I felt like saying "Just decided to take a break from life, right here in the middle of the road with my kid in the back. You got a problem?" but I tell him my car stalled. He's like, well you're not in a good spot...DUH!! Yet again, wanted to ask if he had super human strength and could push my car out of the way. But just told him I was calling a tow truck right then.

Long story short, Shane shows up and gets it started to drive it home, tow truck comes to take it to the shop...now we're waiting on the bill...

Got the bill...

$850! Can you believe it?! Apparently I have the one model year that GMC decided to try out a new gas tank system. After 1 year they decided it wasn't a good design. Long and the short of it: My fuel pump costs more than any other..I did get a second opinion and everyone said that this is the right cost. Looking on the bright side...at 175,000 mile on the car it's the first time we've had to replace it. A blessing considering that everyone we talked to with this model/year has had it done 2-3 times with less miles. I guess there's something to be said about driving on flat surfaces for a majority of the life of the car and keeping the oil changed! Oh well, it's only money. Can't take it when I die!! :)

6 Random Things

Tammy tagged me and made me sit and think of random things about me...so here are the 6 I came up with! :) (This also counts toward Natalie bo Batalies!!)



1. I swam on a summer swim league until I aged out at 17 growing up. I placed 3rd in the city (in San Antonio) in backstroke my last year. This may account for why I prefer water aerobics to any other exercise (even if I am the youngest by 30 years in the class!!)



2. I'm not big on snuggling or PDA...drives Shane bonkers sometimes, but oh well!



3. I am a bit of a pack rat...I used to save a ton, but living with Shane that is just not possible! So I am down to a few boxes...I wasn't a big journaler, but I can show you my life in pictures/souvenirs.



4. I hate having my hair short. I will never go shorter than a bob at chin length. When I was in 2nd grade my grandma tried to cut my hair and messed it up so bad they had to do a pixie cut...still not over it!



5. I am extremely afraid of heights. No known reason why, just am! BUT I will still try things at least once...I did the Sydney Bridge climb in Australia and crossed one of the longest/highest suspension bridges in Canada. Which brings me to number 6...



6. I don't like to miss out on anything. I don't want to look back with regrets and say I wish I had done something, but was too scared etc.

1st day of school pictures...FINALLY!

So, with my crazy life right now, by the time I get to blogging, I just am too tired. But today I decided to do some of it...Thanks to Buddy for telling me how to add the blog list link so I don't spend quite so much time surfing! So here are the much anticipated (I'm sure!) pictures! Here's Gemma...a big 6th grader! Here's Amy...going into 3rd. Here's Nicholas...1st grade. And Austin in Preschool 2 days a week!
